Integrating EDI Principles and Practices in Higher Education and Beyond

EDIRE Open Session– The Third Project Meeting

We are thrilled to share the highlights from the successful EDIRE Open Session hosted by TU Dublin on October 17, 2023. This event, a part of the EDIRE project (Equality Diversity and Inclusion for Research Enhancement in Bosnia Herzegovina) funded by Horizon Europe, brought together a diverse group of participants to facilitate the exchange and dissemination of EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) best practices in Higher Education Institutions and beyond.

The event started with a welcome speech by Yvonne Galigan from TU Dublin.

Participants learned about TU Dublin’s EDI initiatives, including Gender-Based Violence, Race Equity, Gender Identity and Gender Expression, and Universal Design for Learning.

The speakers were Catherine Bolger (GBV), Philip Owende (Race Equality) and Catherine Deegan (UDL) and Sara Clavero (TUD).

Attendees gained valuable European perspectives on EDI in higher education, presented by Jasminka Hasic from the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology and Angela Celeste Taramasso from the University of Genoa, with moderation by Caitriona Delaney, TU Dublin.

The event explored ‘Embedding EDI Principles in the Irish NGO Sector’ with insights from Jeanne McDonagh of the Open Doors Initiative.

A productive Q&A session allowed for in-depth discussions, moderated by Caitriona Delaney, TU Dublin. The event concluded with a wrap-up and key conclusions, presented by Sara Clavero, TU Dublin.

Participants enjoyed a networking lunch, allowing further discussions and collaborations.
