On November 7th, University SSST hosted a panel discussion titled Future of Creativity: Exploring AI as part of its 20th anniversary celebration. The event examined the transformative role of artificial intelligence (AI) in reshaping education, academic research, and the creative industries.
Moderated by Emina Ganić, the panel featured an impressive lineup of speakers: Dr. Hongbo Du, lecturer in the Applied Computing Department at the University of Buckingham; Prof. Dr. Jasmin Azemović, a University Professor specializing in databases, information security, privacy, and forensic analysis; and Admir Kulin from the Blum Institute, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s first AI institute. Together, they addressed critical topics such as AI’s potential to mitigate inherent biases, democratize access to knowledge and skills, and the ethical implications and cybersecurity challenges associated with new technologies.
The event provided an excellent opportunity for the EDIRE project team to meet with Prof. Dr. Harriet Dunbar-Morris, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) and Provost at the University of Buckingham. During their discussion, potential avenues for collaboration were explored, and Prof. Dunbar-Morris expressed her interest in having the University of Buckingham participate in future public events of the EDIRE project.
The panel highlighted the importance of embracing equality, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) principles into AI development, ensuring that AI technologies benefit all individuals, regardless of their background. By aligning technological innovation with ethical responsibility, the panel showcased the transformative potential of AI to create a more inclusive and equitable future.
