SSST and TPO Foundation: Activities within the UNIGEM Project

The University Sarajevo School of Science and Technology (SSST), in collaboration with the TPO Foundation and UNIGEM project, recently organized engaging workshops for academic and administrative staff. These workshops focused on enlightening everyone about the latest university regulations.

Under the expert guidance of Lejla Abdurahmanović, Legal Advisor and Staff Coordinator of SSST, the workshops covered essential themes that are of great importance for the university’s progress.

One of the themes covered during the workshops was “Guidelines for the Prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Harassment.” It is crucial for the University to have clear guidelines in place to address such situations, whether they occur among staff or students. In the near future, a designated contact person will be appointed at the University to handle and address these issues and procedures.

The second theme discussed was “Procedures for Academic Promotion.” The Legal Advisor and Staff Coordinator, Lejla Abdurahmanović, is currently working on drafting new procedures within the legal framework. This involves close communication with all deans at the University to ensure more precise and updated procedures for academic promotions.

“Regulations on Leave for Childbirth” are of utmost importance for staff members, and updating these regulations will contribute to creating a better work environment for all. The regulations will be aligned with legal procedures and modified according to the needs of staff members.

These workshops and activities are integral parts of SSST’s Gender Equality Plan, highlighting our commitment to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment. Through initiatives like these, we actively contribute to the broader mission of the EDIRE project, promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion in research.

The workshops provided an incredible opportunity for all staff members to actively participate in insightful discussions regarding these upcoming regulations. We are excited to witness the official launch of these new guidelines once all necessary procedures are completed.

Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to prioritize gender equality and empower the community at SSST.

UNIGEM is the first project of its kind and will be implemented in cooperation with 17 universities from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, and Serbia, with 10 public and seven private universities.

It is a project that will deal with issues of gender equality and gender-based violence at universities in BiH and the region in the next four years. The UNIGEM project is supported by the Government of the United Kingdom, and the coordinator is the TPO Foundation from Sarajevo.
