December, 2022- Montenegro, Podgorica
Public event “Public engagement in R&I- Science education and Gender Equality in Science” was organized in Podgorica, Montenegro by WBC-RRI.NET team.
In addition to discussing science and education equality in the Western Balkans, this event also addressed the importance of RRI perspectives in STEM education. They also provided an international perspective, as well as a roundtable discussion on the role of GE and Science education towards S3 planning, implementation, and monitoring.
Assoc. Prof. Jasminka Hasić Telalović, University-Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, spoke on Women in STEM, and presented Horizon Europe’s project Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion for Research Enhancement in Bosnia Herzegovina (EDIRE).
Hasić Telalović explained that he successful implementation of EDIRE will contribute in spreading fundamental and innovative approaches in R&I, which are still far to be widely adopted – and not just in Widening countries, but all over Europe and beyond. In particular, the EDIRE’s inclusive, cooperative mechanisms – stemming from its research component on EDI and practically applied in all the envisaged coordination and support measures – will attentively consider the RRI principles, which constitute the project’s underlying philosophy. As a matter of fact, EDIRE will contribute to attracting the academic community attention towards the relevance and importance of research approaches based on RRI principles.
The EDIRE team was very grateful to have the opportunity to start networking with other regional Horizon projects.
