On December 14th, the panel-discussion titled “Put yourself in my heels” was organized at SSST University by SSST Gender Office and TPO Foundation.
Moderator of panel-discussion was Emina Ganić, SSST Vice-Dean for Students, while panelists were:
- Prof. dr Zilka Spahić Šiljak, TPO foundation director;
- Mrs Mubera Hodžić Lemeš, Sigurna kuća – Safe House director;
- Mrs Emina Bošnjak, Sarajevski otvoreni centar – Sarajevo Open Center director;
- Assoc. Prof. Dr Jasminka Hasić Telalović, SSST Gender Office and EDIRE project Coordinator;
- Maja Misira Rašić, pshychologist at SSST Gymnasium;
- Dr. Nermin Šehović, on behalf of police and security sector.
Through the panel, we had the opportunity to find out what has been done since last year’s campaign, up to today. Given that the TPO Foundation focused this year’s campaign on femicide, criminal law specialist Dr. Šehović explained that femicide emphasizes the motive of murder, that is, murder based on gender.
One of the conclusions of the panel was the insufficient engagement of young people, which was noticed by female experts in the fields of formal and informal education.
It is necessary to nurture and encourage feminist activism and encourage young people to report and not remain silent about the occurrence of gender-based violence.
