#FinalDisseminationEvent of the #HorizonEuropefunded project “Equality, Diversity and Inclusion for Research Enhancement in Bosnia and Herzegovina (EDIRE)” was successfully held on 9 October 2025 at the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology in a hybrid format. The event marked the culmination of the project’s activities and showcased its key achievements in advancing #equality, #diversity, and #inclusion (EDI) in research institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the wider #WesternBalkans region.
The event was formally opened by EU Project Officer Anca-Adriana Cucu, PhD, followed by Prof. Dr Jasminka Hasic Hasić Telalović, EDIRE Project Coordinator, and a representative of the SSST University management. In their remarks, they highlighted the strategic relevance of EDIRE in aligning national research environments with European values and frameworks on equality and inclusion.
The first session, “SSST EDI Testimonials,” gathered distinguished speakers: Prof. Dr. Jasna Hivziefendic, Prof. Dr Angela Celeste Taramasso, Prof. Dr Olga Kolotouchkina, and Prof. Dr. Semira Galijasevic, SSST moderated by Emina Ganić. Panelists shared personal and institutional experiences on how EDIRE has contributed to strengthening gender equality, fostering inclusive academic cultures, and embedding #EDI #principles in the institutional structure of SSST.
The second session, “EDI in the #WesternBalkans,” featured regional experts Prof. Dr Nikoleta Đukanović (#Montenegro), Aleksandra Drecun JD, MPA, MSc (#Serbia), and Sara Clavero (TU Dublin Equality Diversity Inclusion), moderated by Prof. Dr Jasminka Hasic. The panel provided valuable comparative perspectives and outlined shared regional priorities for the sustainable implementation of EDI policies across research systems in the #WesternBalkans.
The event concluded with a session summarising EDIRE’s key results and impact, followed by a networking lunch. Participants emphasised the project’s contribution to capacity building, policy development, and institutional transformation, as well as its role in establishing a solid foundation for future cooperation in the field of EDI.
Through its activities, the project has strengthened institutional capacities and contributed to embedding European values of equality and inclusion within the national research and innovation landscape.
