With a welcoming speech and opening remarks, Project Coordinator Prof. Dr. Jasminka Hasić Telalović introduced the agenda for the upcoming four days and familiarized participants with the key themes they will explore.
The Executive Director of the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology, Mr. Emir Ganić, welcomed all attendees and officially declared the EDIRE Summer School open:
“Esteemed representatives of partner universities, dear young scientists,
It is my great pleasure to warmly welcome you to the Sarajevo School of Science and Technology.
We proudly share with you the honour of being part of the largest research community in Europe — Horizon Europe — which makes gatherings like this possible. It allows us to grow together, build networks, and shape a new, collaborative eco-scientific system.
Thanks to the EDIRE project, SSST has significantly strengthened its leadership capacities in promoting the principles of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI), not only in Bosnia and Herzegovina but across the Western Balkans. This achievement fills us with pride, but also with a deep sense of responsibility to uphold and advance this role.
We are sincerely grateful to our partners who continue to support us on this path. On behalf of the university’s management, and in my personal capacity, I can confidently say that we are committed to ensuring that EDI principles become embedded in all spheres of scientific research and academic life.
We look forward to new projects with our partners — and with all of you.
Please feel at home at our university. I am certain this will be a memorable and enriching experience for everyone.”
